The situation is even more complicated in Every Seventh Wave, as both Emmi and Leo are currently in different relationships. When Leo returns to Austria and checks his old mail ID, he finds all the e-mails from Emmi, and they get in touch again, which in turn renews their forgotten romance. Meanwhile, Leo has become engaged to an American, Pam. But, Emmi keeps sending mails to this e-mail ID, hoping for some response, and when she does not get any, she becomes frustrated. Leo has left Austria for America, and has stopped using his previous e-mail address. This novel leaves the readers in suspense, wanting to know what happens next. For, Emmi is married, with two stepchildren. Romance over the internet is not new, but this relationship is not destined for a smooth voyage. And then, it begins to go beyond that, as each begin to take a romantic interest in the other. Soon, it begins to cross over into mild flirtation. At first, it is just a growing casual friendship. Then, their curiosity kindled, they begin to exchange e-mails. But, by accident, because of a slight mistake in an email address, an email ends up in the wrong inbox, and they exchange a polite email to set things right. Every Seventh Wave is the sequel to the popular epistolary novel, Love Virtually.Įmmi and Leo do not know each other, they do not even know of each other’s existence.
